Extract from the project overview

The education of children, young people and the wider community will form an integral and key part of the project. Key themes will also be focused on community engagement and involvement and positive actions done BY rather than FOR the community.

The project will form a ‘cradle to grave’ concept educating and inspiring children and young people on key themes for sustainable living and the importance of their role as positive role models within their communities.

For the project to be productive and proactive in challenging and changing both the perceptions and the appearance of the area, the project will prioritise and focus on three of the LEQ issues deemed to be most appropriate to the community area and its members: littering, fly tipping and abandoned spaces.

Our actions will not be carried out in isolation. We plan to use and draw from global, national, county and local strategies and plans …

Actions, building on the Venture’s recognised and often ground-breaking work in the community and through Alternative Learning (VAL), Educational Cafe (Edu-Caf), play work and Early Years activities will include:

  • wide-reaching education programme
  • natural community engagement and involvement
  • practical projects and actions on littering, fly tipping and abandoned spaces
  • exciting recycled art projects involving interaction between the local university students and community residents
